I pray this word will cause you to be encouraged. With so many bad and negative reports being forced on us, it is always good to hear something that will empower us. Use this short message and the scriptures in it to strengthen you on your journey with Jesus. If you have not made Jesus your Savior and Lord, keep reading anyway and then ask Him to make Himself real to you in your situation. We will all die one day, but we do not have to leave this world afraid of what death will bring. For those in Christ Jesus, we are sojourners here, hoping to make a difference in a dark world.
If a person is afraid of dying, it usually shows when something physically goes wrong in their body. Today, many people are still fearful of Covid19 because of how the media portrays it, and the number of deaths seems so great. However, if a person takes the time to investigate the truth behind this pandemic, including looking at the numbers related to the United States as a whole, their fear may diminish.
God's people perish for lack of knowledge. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. - Hos 4:6 NKJV
Not a pretty picture, but under the new covenant, there is more extraordinary grace in Jesus.
People will believe and receive whatever benefits them. If they desire to know the truth, they will seek it and be free. We were never given a spirit of fear, and once we were born again, we received a spirit of love, boldness, and a sound mind. We have a mind that is to be self-controlled and disciplined, not given to the winds of adversity and fear, for they will not cease until we speak peace.
Jesus said, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. - Mat 6:33 NKJV
When Jesus spoke these words, He talked about the needs a person may have that cause them to worry. However, it is an applicable statement for anything. Whenever my soul gets rattled and emotionally out of control, I seek the peace of Jesus. In a song (posted below) called "I Speak Jesus" by Charity Gyle, she sings, "I just want to speak the name of Jesus over every heart and every mind." The name of Jesus is above every name; it is the name that every knee shall bow and the name that sets the captives free and sends demons into terror!
Fear will rear its ugly head, and it will threaten you with sickness and disease, death and loss in a variety of things, but fear is a liar. Fear has torment; therefore, God does not want us walking in it. His perfect love will cast that fear out.
Fear will always lead to control. Whenever a person fears anything, they will try to control the outcome of their fear. Suppose they are afraid they will die from a disease. In that case, they will do everything possible to keep from getting it, even if it means submitting to a government's agenda of hatred towards freedom. Fear desires to control you, but you don't have to allow it to rule your soul.
4 For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. - 2Co 10:4-6
The verse above is something all of us should memorize and be actively engaged in doing it. When an unfounded fear of any sort comes to our minds, we need to take a moment to look at the reality of that fear. Is something going to hurt you, or are you just afraid it might? If you are in real danger, what are the logical things you can do to prevent being harmed? After you think the situation through, take action that will empower you. Pause, Pray, Proceed!
Fear can cause a fight, flight, or freeze reaction in our soul. But if we choose to seek the peace of God in every circumstance and allow it to guard our hearts and be diligent about it, we will not do any of these things. A spirit of fear wants to disable people, especially God's people. It cannot succeed if we do not empower it by giving in to the world's system and agenda.
I will leave you with the words of Apostle Paul to ponder. Paul said, 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. - Col 2:8-10 NKJV
The world's systems are built on self-identity and not God's identity. We need only seek the word of God and not use the traditions of man to make our decisions. If your family did not know Jesus Christ as Lord and ran to the doctors every time they had the sniffles, or they passed on old wives' tales, refrain from living in those strongholds. Fight the good fight of faith and live a life worthy of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Let's pray,
Jesus, I choose You and life. I know one day I will pass on from this place and spend eternity with the Father and You. I cannot control my exit but I can control the way I think about it. Help me, O LORD, to be a conqueror and not live in the defeat of fear. You conquered the enemy on the cross, help me believe that, and walk in Your victory so that I can live by faith and not in fear. In Jesus name, Amen
