Total Soul Redemption

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. - Mat 1:21 KJV

Sin fragments the soul, and at times even causes it to appear destroyed. Did you know that God has a desire for our whole soul to be redeemed? He does. Jesus completed the work on the cross for us to be entirely whole. The word save means to “make whole.” God finishes things; He is not one to leave anything partially undone. When we redeem a thing, it means we pay it off and when we pay something off it is free and clear. Paid in full!

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Heb 9:12

Jesus used His blood to buy ours and rescue us from our lost and fallen, sinful state. We have been redeemed in every way imaginable because of the redemptive power of the Blood. We can overcome anything because the Holy Spirit was released into us. Because Jesus took the cross, the Spirit of God was able to come into a person and reside. The Holy Spirit helps us work out our salvation through His counsel, instruction, and comfort.

Our souls are the mind where our will, intellect, emotions, and feelings are contained. It is the very place where most of the damage to our lives are hidden. The body can be visibly damaged, broken, split, and made ill and the soul can be as well, though one may not be able to see it. Soul wounds, fragmentation, divides, and various forms of brokenness can occur in a person’s soul and in that brokenness a person can be driven in many unhealthy ways.

Broken People Bite with Bitterness

Most of us have heard the saying “hurting people hurt people.” This statement is true because the soul houses the pain of hurtful memories, regrets, rejection, disappointment, and a variety of other misfortunes a life can succumb. Many people interject their pain on others without even being aware of their actions. Jesus said, For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. Mat 15:19 NLT A heart that has not been redeemed by the Blood will often release these kinds of behaviors, but for a heart purchased for the price of blood, it should not be this way.

This type of sin of the heart doesn’t have to be for a Christian because God has made a way through Jesus Christ, the Soul Healer, to make us whole. Do we believe it? Is it possible that all the horrific things that happen to people can be redeemed?

Purchased and Restored

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 1Pe 5:10

Katartizō, is Greek for restored or to mend what has been broken. Katartizō, used in 1 Peter implies a strengthening and ability to make one what he ought to be; this is what a redeemed person has the ability to obtain. Though we once were alienated from God with our understanding darkened because of sin we now are bought with blood and given an ability to be the person we were initially created to be. Praise God!

This restoration process can come at a cost in our lives but one that is far less than the one Jesus Christ paid. When we submit our lives to Jesus, follow Him in His instruction, and walk in faith, we will find ourselves giving up the things of this natural world to obtain those in the spiritual. At first, it may seem as if our dying to self is a loss, but that is all part of the process. After walking in the Spirit and not fulfilling the lust of the flesh, we eventually see that what we thought was a loss was actually a hindrance to our happiness.

for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. - Rom 14:17 NKJV

Living life for the King is righteousness, peace, and joy. We find we have contentment in this life even when going through trials when we walk as He commands. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. - 1Jo 5:3-4 NKJV

Did you get that? Whatever is born of God will overcome the world. When we are born of God we will defeat the dark night of the soul. We can become whole where our minds have been split, torn, and fragmented from destructive people and destructive lifestyles. We do not have to walk in the pain of our past any longer, nor does our history have to define our identity today.

Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. - 2Co 5:17 KJV

Our old person has metaphorically perished and our new person, as a child of God, was created according to Gods blueprint in true righteousness and holiness (Eph 4) and is renewed in knowledge according to the image of our Creator (Col 3:10).

Let’s Pray,

Heavenly Father,

I ask You to draw near to my soul, and redeem it; deliver me because of my enemies. My soul has been a sabotager to my future and the plans You called forth when You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. Redeem and heal my reproach, shame, and dishonor, for I am confident that You hear the poor in spirit and those afflicted by pain. I believe that those hearts that seek You shall live. I pray for the reward of the fullness of the healing blood of Jesus Christ to come forth in my life, help me believe this day that my mind is whole, renewed by Your word and that my whole mind shall be redeemed and restored. In Jesus name, Amen
