Cultural Calamities of Christianity

Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." - 2Co 6:17 NKJV

Since the beginning of time there has been a call to holiness. God has always said, “Be holy for I am holy.” Yet all through the generations, there has been little contending for the call to holiness. Instead, man has constantly made way for the flesh to rule, and the culture to control. Society and its culture have seemed to always have a stronger influence on people than God has, at least on the surface it looks that way. There are now “churches” meeting in bars, one in Texas is called Church-in-a-Pub. People from all over are trying to make Christianity relevant instead of coming out of the irrelevant lifestyle they are living and walking in the promises of eternity.

The truth is that no matter what people think is relevant, God has the greatest influence over all mankind because we are His creation and, in the end, He will judge accordingly.

Today’s dictionary defines culture as a noun. That as a quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc. Culture can also be a particular form or stage of civilization, such as “Greek culture.” Culture is also the development or improvement of the mind by education or training; one might call this latter definition indoctrination. As a verb or an action, cultured represents the cultivating of a civilization; it can become so strong that it is more like an organism growing as it begins to control others.

A cultural takeover induces the calamities of such acts as that which is deemed popular in that particular era. Calamity is a great misfortune or disaster resulting in grievous affliction, adversity, and misery. This is the condition of the nations today. The opinions of a small few have dictated the direction of the masses. The Bible even makes a note of how a little sin can affect the entire bunch (1Cor 5:7).

From the Egyptians to the Greeks the same thing has happened, cultural calamities. The biggest nations fell to the disasters of their culture. We see that God always sends someone to warn a society that something is going to have to happen if they do not turn from their wicked ways, yet seldom does a nation turn and repent until the disasters come forth.

There is a promise to those who will come out from the world and seek God and His righteousness. 17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." 18I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty. 2Co 6:17-18

All throughout the Bible, people are given promises as a result of their obedience, yet few follow the instruction. God promises to be a Father to those who will separate themselves unto Him. He promises to receive those who walk away from an unclean life.

One of the most important things a person can do when becoming born again into Christ, is to let go of their past. If they have been hanging out with sin induced people that have influenced their path, then they need to make a decision to live for Jesus and not people.

14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." - 2Co 6:14-18

Belial is another name for Satan, it represents wickedness and wicked individuals. Wicked people are ruled by wicked spirits. Wickedness represents depravity, iniquity, and malice and it is rooted in evil purposes and desires. The Lord tells us to have nothing to do with such people in the sense of partaking in union with them or covenant relationship with them.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. - Eph 6:12

Christ is light; Belial is darkness. Nothing good dwells in the dark that is of the light for no darkness resides in the Light. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. - 1Jo 1:6-7 NKJV

In the book of Jeremiah, a Prophet of the Lord, we can read what some of the people of God were doing by way of sin. In chapter 7 verses five and six, we see that the people are told to amend their ways and their doings by thoroughly and righteously judging between man and his neighbor. In other words, rightly divide and judge the truth. They were to stop oppressing the stranger and taking advantage of foreigners, they were to stop the child sacrifices, and they were to stop chasing other gods.

The Israelites had not followed through with everything the Lord had instructed them to do with regards to not yoking themselves and fellowshipping with those who were not believers of God, Yahweh. Instead, they were doing all sorts of wicked things and going into the temple of the Lord and burning incense to Baal and saying that they were delivered to do all these abominations. The same is happening today. People say they are Christians but use it as a license to continue in their sin instead of coming out of the dark lifestyle they once were part of. These sins provoked God to anger, and He had to invoke correction.

What are some of the effects of ignoring the commands of God?

I am going to list just a few things that have come into America as a result of not following Gods commands to come out from among them and not be yoked with unbelievers.

· Abortion

· Legalized drugs

· Bible reading and prayer were taken out of schools

· Legalized gay marriage

· Assault on the original creation of gender by God

· Assisted suicide of healthy people

· Laws against counseling gender or sexually confused individuals that want it

· The indoctrination of our children to follow the depraved lifestyles of the LGBTQ

· Ten commandments monuments and other Christian signs and symbols removed from various buildings

America is also bordering on forced gender identity surgeries for children, and parental rights have been attacked in numerous states.

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. - 2Ch 7:14

Heavenly Father, we cry out to You for help in returning to Your grace and mercy that is new every day. We have sinned against You and against the people You have put in charge of ruling our nation with honesty, morality, and integrity. We have committed every abomination under the sun and have done so with pride and without humility. I fear Lord, it may be too late, but I am choosing to hold on to Your promises of old that if we repent and turn from our wicked ways, You will hear, and respond with healing. Lord, I ask You to forgive us our sins and renew a right spirit in us, as Your children. In Jesus name, Amen
